How to Vote in Port Moody 2026

Port Moody votes Saturday, October 17, 2026. The ballot picks a mayor and council and it also elects two School District 43 trustees. That trustee section sits at the bottom of the card, and a lot of people stop before they get there, so it's worth going in knowing the whole card.

What is on your ballot

Port Moody elects one mayor, six councillors, and two School District 43 trustees, all on one card.

The trustee section is the easy one to miss. Trustees oversee the SD43 budget and set policy for the local schools, and if you leave that part blank other voters end up deciding those seats for you. You get two trustee votes, so it's worth using both of them. The official candidate list was declared on September 11, 2026: four candidates for Port Moody's two trustee seats. How to register

The City of Port Moody works from the Elections BC voters list, so if you're already on it at your current Port Moody address, you're set and there's nothing else you need to do.

If you are not registered, or you have moved, register online with Elections BC before August 18, 2026 and voting day becomes a walk-in. After the deadline, you can still register at the voting place itself.

To vote you need to be a Canadian citizen, 18 or older on voting day, living in BC for at least six months, and living in Port Moody or a registered owner of property here. The six months counts anywhere in BC. There is no minimum time in Port Moody itself.

Where and how you vote

Four voting places are open on October 17 from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and you can use any of them no matter where in Port Moody you live: the Recreation Complex at 300 Ioco Road, Kyle Centre at 125 Kyle Street, Heritage Mountain Community Centre at 200 Panorama Place, and Glenayre Community Centre at 492 Glencoe Drive. The advance days, October 7 and 10, happen in one spot over the same hours, the Wellness Room at the Recreation Complex.

If you register at the polls rather than in advance, bring two pieces of ID that together show your name and address, one of them signed. A BC driver's licence or BC Services Card plus a utility bill or tax notice does the job. The full accepted-ID list lives on the City's voting information page.

Voting by mail

Any qualified Port Moody voter can vote by mail. Completed ballots have to be in the City's hands when voting closes on October 17, 2026, so an envelope still sitting in the mail on voting day won't count. You can pick up the application form online or at City Hall's Legislative Services counter, 100 Newport Drive, from late August. Same thing goes at the kitchen table too: mark every choice, trustees included, before you seal it up.
