Five priorities for Port Moody schools.

About 26% of your property tax bill is school tax and not one dollar of that line goes to SD43.

• The school tax flows to provincial general revenue and the province funds SD43 separately, per student. No school board vote can raise or cut that line, but Port Moody and SD43 need to get their fair share.
• SD43 is the third largest district in BC and sits in the bottom 10 of 60 for funding per student. Our students still perform above the provincial average. Imagine what they could achieve with fair funding.
• Two questions matter: does this district get its fair share back, and does the half billion it already manages do the most it can for our kids and the people who teach and support them.

I will fight for Port Moody’s fair share and analyze every budget line like it is your money. Because it is.

Port Moody is growing and the province is making sure of it. Schools need to be ready when the growth arrives.

• SD43’s own planning expects 6,205 new homes here over ten years, roughly 800 more school-aged kids, nearly a quarter of the district’s projected growth.
• The new Moody Elementary opened in April 2026 with just 115 additional spaces and was nearly full in its first month. New schools should accommodate the future growth of their neighbourhoods.
• Land is scarce and getting more expensive. We need to rethink school design to make the most of every site we can get, with responsible use of your tax dollars.

I know portables from the inside. I spent years of my own schooling in them, set apart from the rest of the school. A portable is a bridge and a bridge is fine for a season. It should never be the plan on opening day of a brand new school.

I will advocate for a change in how schools are planned so they are READY when your kids need them.

Crowded schools stretch resources and supports. Every student deserves a safe, supportive place to learn.

• SD43 teachers used the district’s own budget consultation to ask for more support with student behaviour and safety, then waited three budget cycles for a concrete answer. I will make sure a written ask like that gets a real answer the first time.
• The district’s own survey found 80% of students feel safe while 30% of Grade 11 students did not respond positively. I will work with trustees and educators to increase school safety.
• No board can prevent a hoax like the threats that put eleven Tri-Cities schools on hold and secure in February 2026, but families should never be left guessing while one is happening. Your child’s safety and communication to you are paramount.

I will advocate for supportive learning spaces in every building, the older ones included.

You are your child’s biggest advocate. You deserve a trustee who is reachable, answers her email and is accountable to you by name.

• The last Port Moody catchment change was decided with 42 survey responses. When the district ran the same process on the Coquitlam side, the survey heard from 376.
• Consultation has to reach families before the decision, in plain language, while your voice can still change the outcome.
• Informed decision making requires better engagement. I am committed to making sure we get your opinion on the issues that matter to you.

Port Moody deserves a strong voice at the table and I will make sure our community is heard.

My kids will spend the next 17 years in Port Moody schools. Every decision this board makes lands on my family too.

• Years at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation taught me how large institutions move and how to bring big organizations together for a united cause. There’s no cause more important to me than one that helps our children.
• Strong collaboration with Port Moody City Council will be essential to ensuring our community’s priorities are heard and our solutions are brought forward to the Provincial Government.
• A long term commitment to you: if elected I will commit to twelve years (3 terms) representing our community as a School Trustee. You deserve consistent, dependable representation.
