“Submitted” means asked of the province in the district's capital plan, with no funding decision announced, so the timing is the province's call rather than the board's.
New Moody Elementary: open
The new Moody Elementary at 110 Buller Street welcomed students in January 2026, and its official opening ceremony was held later, on April 24, 2026. It has 385 student spaces, 115 of them net new, and it replaced older infrastructure with 270 seismically safer seats. The province put in more than $32 million, and the building includes a child care centre with space for as many as 60 kids.
Port Moody Centre elementary: site on the Eligible School Sites list, school submitted
A planned 455-seat elementary in Port Moody Centre sits on the district's 2027/2028 Eligible School Sites Proposal, listed as 1.2 hectares and estimated at $40,403,421 for the site, which is the land line only. The site is secured through the sites process, meaning it's identified and on the developer fee bylaw, which is a step short of the land being bought outright. The school itself is submitted in the capital plan, with no provincial funding to build it yet.
Port Moody Secondary addition and seismic: submitted
Two Port Moody Secondary projects are submitted in the 2026/27 Five Year Major Capital Plan: a 12-classroom addition estimated at $31,632,087, and a seismic (earthquake-safety) upgrade estimated at $3,106,543. Both are requests to the province, and neither has a funding announcement yet.
Port Moody Waterfront Elementary: site acquisition submitted
A waterfront elementary shows up in the same June 2025 plan as a land-acquisition line only, estimated at $35,864,000. It's submitted to the province, and there's been no funding answer. This is the site Port Moody council pushed back on, so it's the least settled line on the board.
Eagle Mountain Middle addition: submitted
A four-classroom addition at Eagle Mountain Middle is submitted in the 2026/27 plan, estimated at $9,375,043. It's a request only, with no funding news.
Moody Elementary addition: submitted
Separate from the new build that just opened, the district still has a proposed addition at Moody Elementary on the 2026/27 plan, a four-classroom addition or partial replacement estimated at $8,657,086. It's submitted, and nothing public since June 2025 shows it moving.
Ioco childcare conversion: proceeding
The historic 1921 Ioco schoolhouse is being converted into licensed childcare with 150 spaces. A development application was filed in March 2026 and completion is targeted for fall 2027. This is the one project besides the finished Moody build that is actively moving through the approval process.
Nearby, in Coquitlam rather than Port Moody proper, the Montgomery Middle seismic rebuild is also proceeding, so seismic work in the wider district is underway even where the Port Moody lines are still waiting.
